Vanguard ZERO: Genesis Artemis Deck Build and Guide


Here's a quick guide and tips for Genesis Battle Deity of the Night, Artemis Deck users in the RPG mobile card game Vanguard ZERO. Available for Android (Google Play) and iOS (App Store).

Genesis is a clan that makes use of Soul-Blasts frequently to activate skills. Furthermore, there are cards with skills which activate when a card from the soul is put into the drop zone, so using them is your top priority!

Genesis Artemis Deck

Notable Info

   - Field Control = Can retire units controlled by the opponent.
   - Multi Attacks = Can attack more than 3 times in 1 turn.

First Vanguard and Sentinel Cards (PG)

Aiming for the Stars, Artemis (FV)Goddess of Self-sacrifice, Kushinada (G1)
   - Aiming for the Stars, Artemis (FV) = Higher chance to ride Artemis (G2) or Artemis (G3). Can be used as Booster if you did not get any "Artemis" cards.
   - Goddess of Self-sacrifice, Kushinada (G1) = Add x4.

Recommended Cards (Must Have)

   - Bowstring of Heaven and Earth, Artemis (G1) = Add x4, recommended as Grade 1 Vanguard.
   - Twilight Hunter, Artemis (G2) = Add x3~x4, recommended as Grade 2 Vanguard.
   - Battle Deity of the Night, Artemis (G3) = Add x4, your main Vanguard for this build.
   - Oracle Queen, Himiko (G3) = Add x4, useful for Soul Charging and activating "Break Rides".

   - Witch of Frogs, Melissa (G1) = Add x4. During your turn, when this card is put into your Drop Zone (from Soul), CB1 to call this card, and it gets +3,000 Power until end of turn (10,000 total Power).
   - Witch of Ravens, Chamomile (G2) = Add x4. During your turn, when this card is put into your Drop Zone (from Soul), CB1 to call this card, and it gets +3,000 Power until end of turn (12,000 total Power).
   - Would also recommend getting cards that can "Soul Charge" and "Soul Blast" below.

Suggested Cards To Add (Budget Cards)

Grade 1 Cards

   - Battle Maiden, Mihikarihime (G1) = Add as filler, nice base Power and Defense.
   - Pineapple Law (G1) = Limit to x2. Mainly used to add damage to your Damage Zone (aka "Self Damage") to activate Limit Breaks earlier than usual, add if you like to use.
   - Existence Angel (G1) = Add as filler. When the attack this unit boosted hits a Vanguard, Soul Charge 1.
   - Witch of Cats, Cumin (G1) = Add as filler. When placed, Soul Charge 1.

Grade 2 Cards

   - Battle Maiden, Izunahime (G2) = Add up to x4, nice base Power and Defense.
   - Battle Maiden, Sahohime (G2) = Add x2~x4. When this unit's attack hits a Vanguard, CB1 to Soul Charge 3. Add more if you do not have enough Twilight Hunter, Artemis (G2) cards, or as an alternative.
   - Broom Witch, Callaway (G2) = Limit to x1~x2. When this unit's attack hits, CB2 to draw a card.
   - Hazard Bob (G2) = Limit to x2. Mainly used to add damage to your Damage Zone (aka "Self Damage") to activate Limit Breaks earlier than usual, add if you like to use.
   - Witch of Owls, Paprika (G2) = Add up to x4, can reach 11,000 Power if you have a Vanguard with LB4. Also a good alternative to Battle Maiden, Izunahime (G2).

Grade 3 Cards

   - Battle Maiden, Mizuha (G3) = Add as filler or up to x4, also useful for Soul Blasting.
   - Scheduler Angel (G3) = Add as filler if you need more cards, can reach 13,000 Power when boosted.

   - NOTE: Feel free to try other cards not listed here, and add any Grade 3 cards you have available, just make sure to follow the recommended Trigger Set below.

RRR and Other Cards (If Available)

Eternal Goddess, Iwanagahime (G3)
   - Eternal Goddess, Iwanagahime (G3) = Add up to x4, useful for Soul Blasting and retiring units.

   - NOTE: Feel free to try other cards not listed here, and add any Grade 3 cards you have available, just make sure to follow the recommended Trigger Set below.

Example Deck Builds

   - NOTE: For cards that you don't have, just use the guide above to add filler cards to your deck for now, but if you want to add cards to the existing ones, feel free to do so. Also note that new cards might become available in the future, so feel free to test them out as well.

Rank Fight Trigger Set

   - Critical Trigger (x0), Draw Trigger (x9), Stand Trigger (x0), and Heal Trigger (x4)
   - Refer to the build above (screenshot) for example Triggers Set for specific cards. Reduce and balance Draw Triggers if you are getting "Deck Outs", add more Critical Triggers or Stand Triggers.

For Non Rank Fight Battles

   - NOTE: Feel free to experiment with other Trigger Sets according to your preference. Add more Critical Triggers and/or Stand Triggers if you want to use this deck for certain events, like non Rank Fights that would require you to finish the battle asap.

Genesis Battle Strategies

Mulligan (Starting Cards)

   - Bowstring of Heaven and Earth, Artemis (G1) = Keep x1, to ensure a Grade 1 ride.
   - Twilight Hunter, Artemis (G2) = Keep x1, to ensure a Grade 2 ride. Would also recommend keeping Witch of Ravens, Chamomile (G2) or other Soul Charging card if you did not get this card.
   - Oracle Queen, Himiko (G3) = Keep x1, to ensure a Grade 3 ride.

   - Battle Deity of the Night, Artemis (G3) = Keep x1 (optional), if you didn't get Oracle Queen, Himiko (G3).
   - Goddess of Self-sacrifice, Kushinada (G1) = Keep at least x1.

Basic Battle Strategies

   - This deck focuses on using Soul Charge and Soul Blasts mainly to draw cards and increase field presence.

   - Ride the Artemis chain with a little mix to activate a "Break Ride", Artemis (G1) > Artemis (G2) > Himiko (G3) > Artemis (G3) to search cards, Soul Charge, and use Soul Blasts.

   - If the ride chain failed right from the start, at least try to ride Artemis (G2) to Soul Charge cards, and to add +1,000 Power to your Artemis (G3) later on. If you missed Artemis (G2), use Battle Maiden, Sahohime (G2) as your backup for Soul Charging cards.

   - In case of a miss-ride, go and ride straight to Artemis (G3) or any viable Grade 3 Vanguard for now, then re-ride to your preferred Grade 3 Vanguard/s depending on the situation.

   - TIP: If you have Himiko (G3) as your current Vanguard, make sure to place 2 rear-guards (preferably Boosters) before riding Artemis (G3), this way you'll be able to maximize Himiko's (G3) "Break Ride" skill.

Recommended Cards to Put Into Your Soul

Witch of Ravens, Chamomile (G2)Witch of Frogs, Melissa (G1)
   - Aim for Witch of Frogs, Melissa (G1) and Witch of Ravens, Chamomile (G2). You may also send other cards into your Soul.

   - NOTE: Choose these units when using Soul Blasts (mostly with Grade 3 Vanguards) to activate their skills from your Soul. If done right, you can increase your field presence and also setup multi attacks using these units!

How To Use Battle Deity of the Night, Artemis (G3)

Battle Deity of the Night, Artemis (G3)Witch of Ravens, Chamomile (G2)Witch of Frogs, Melissa (G1)
   - (VC): LB4 When this unit attacks a Vanguard, SB3 to draw 2 cards, put a card from your hand into your Soul, and this unit gets +5,000 Power until end of battle.

   - Example Combo: Use your rear-guards to attack first (best if un-boosted, so setup high base Power rear-guards here if possible), then attack your opponent's Vanguard to use Artemi's (G3) LB4 skill. Soul Blast and choose Witch of Frogs, Melissa (G1) and/or Witch of Ravens, Chamomile (G2) to call them out to the field (retire your front/back row units to setup multi attacks, place them to the back row for later use, or to the front row to intercept).

   - Consider setting up multi attacks when your opponent's Damage is at 4~5 (or lower) to clear out their Intercepts, pop their Sentinel Cards (PG), and get the win!

   - (VC): Persona Blast (discard a Battle Deity of the Night, Artemis (G3) from your hand) to look at 5 cards from the top of your deck, add a card to your hand, and put the rest on the bottom of your deck.
   - Useful for getting cards like Sentinel Cards (PG), an intercept card, another Battle Deity of the Night, Artemis (G3), or other cards that you might need depending on the situation (like specific cards to put into Soul).

   - (VC): If Twilight Hunter, Artemis (G2) is in your Soul, this unit gets +1,000 Power.

How To Use Eternal Goddess, Iwanagahime (G3)

Eternal Goddess, Iwanagahime (G3)Oracle Queen, Himiko (G3)
   - (VC): LB4 SB6 to retire all of your opponent's front row rear-guards.
   - The best time to use this skill is when you have Himiko (G3) as Grade 3 Vanguard and your opponent's Damage is at 4 or 5 to try and get the win!

   - Ride Iwanagahime (G3) and activate Himiko's (G3) "Break Ride" skill to buff up your Vanguard and columns, especially boosters. Use Iwanagahime's (G3) LB4 skill to clear out their front row units.
   - Soul Blast will be used so again choose Witch of Frogs, Melissa (G1) and/or Witch of Ravens, Chamomile (G2) to call them out to the field (now setup 3 attacks directly to the Vanguard).

   - TIP: If you have extra copies of Witch of Frogs, Melissa (G1) and/or Witch of Ravens, Chamomile (G2) in your Soul, you can use Himiko's (G3) "Break Ride" skill to setup more attacks by Soul Blasting those units when using  Iwanagahime (G3) to attack the Vanguard!

   - (VC): SB3 to get +5,000 Power until end of turn.
   - Only use if needed, to overcome defensive triggers.

Counter Blasts

   - Witch of Frogs, Melissa (G1) = During your turn, when this card is put into your Drop Zone (from Soul), CB1 to call this card, and it gets +3,000 Power until end of turn.
   - Witch of Ravens, Chamomile (G2) = During your turn, when this card is put into your Drop Zone (from Soul), CB1 to call this card, and it gets +3,000 Power until end of turn (12,000 total Power).
   - Battle Maiden, Sahohime (G2) = When this unit's attack hits a Vanguard, CB1 to Soul Charge 3.

   - Broom Witch, Callaway (G2) = When this unit's attack hits, CB2 to draw a card.
   - NOTE: Also consider other card effects that requires Counter Blasts if needed.

Soul Blasts

   - NOTE: Also consider other cards that can do Soul Blasts if needed.
