Vanguard ZERO: Nova Grappler Death Army Deck Build and Guide


Here's a quick guide and tips for Nova Grappler Death Army Deck users in the RPG mobile card game Vanguard ZERO. Available for Android (Google Play) and iOS (App Store).

"Death Army" units have skills that allow them to power up by resting units, and even skills that allow them to stand again. Stand with skills of "Bishop" and "Knight", and attack continuously with "Lady" and "Commander"! Finish the game by resting 4 or more units, and Limit Break!

   - Crit Vanguard = Can do 2 or more damage per attack.
   - Cross Ride Vanguard = Permanent +2000 Power when condition is met.
   - Multi Attacks = Can attack more than 3 times in 1 turn.

First Vanguard and Sentinel Cards (PG)

Death Army Pawn (FV)Twin Blader (G1)Beast Deity, Solar Falcon (G1)
   - Death Army Pawn (FV) = Rest 1 of your "Death Army" rear-guards to have that unit get +2,000 Power until end of turn. Useful for buffing up units, combo with cards that can re-stand.
   - Twin Blader (G1) and/or Beast Deity, Solar Falcon (G1) = Add x4.

Recommended Cards (Must Have)

Infinite Corrosion Form, Death Army Cosmo Lord (G3)Ultimate Lifeform, Cosmo Lord (G3)
   - Infinite Corrosion Form, Death Army Cosmo Lord (G3) = Aim for x4, your main Vanguard for this build.
   - Ultimate Lifeform, Cosmo Lord (G3) = Aim for x4, one of your main or sub Vanguard for this build.
   - Would also recommend getting all "Death Army" cards below.

Suggested Cards To Add (Budget Cards)

Grade 1 Cards

   - Death Army Bishop (G1) = Add x4. 1/Turn, CB1 to stand 2 of your "Death Army" rear-guards.
   - Death Army Guy (G1) = Add x4. When your drive check reveals a grade 3, stand this unit.

   - Rocket Hammer Man (G1) = Add as filler, Rest this unit, and one of your other units gets +2,000 Power. This unit can rest itself which is good to help activate skills easier.
   - Screaming and Dancing Announcer, Shout (G1) = Add as filler. Rest this unit to discard a card from your hand, and draw a card. This unit can rest itself as well.

Grade 2 Cards

   - Death Army Knight (G2) = Add x3~x4. When placed during your main phase, stand 2 of your "Death Army" rear-guards.
   - Death Army Lady (G2) = Add x4. When your drive check reveals a grade 3, stand this unit.
   - Death Army Rook (G2) = Add x3~x4, nice base Power and Defense.
   - Street Bouncer (G2) = Limit to x1~x2. When placed, rest this unit and another of your rear-guards, and draw a card.

Grade 3 Cards

   - Death Army Commander (G3) = Add x4. When your drive check reveals a grade 3, stand this unit.
   - Muscle Hercules (G3) = Add up to x4, when placed Counter Charge 1, good support card for this build.
   - Hollow Nomad (G3) = Add as filler, can reach 12,000 Power when attacking a Vanguard.

   - NOTE: Feel free to try other cards not listed here, and add any Grade 3 cards you have available, just make sure to follow the recommended Trigger Set below.

RRR and Other Cards (If Available)

   - Brutal Jack (G2) = Add as filler, nice base Power and Defense.

   - NOTE: Feel free to try other cards not listed here, and add any Grade 3 cards you have available, just make sure to follow the recommended Trigger Set below.

Example Deck Builds

   - NOTE: For cards that you don't have, just use the guide above to add filler cards to your deck for now, but if you want to add cards to the existing ones, feel free to do so. Also note that new cards might become available in the future, so feel free to test them out as well.

Rank Fight Trigger Set

   - Critical Trigger (x0), Draw Trigger (x9), Stand Trigger (x0), and Heal Trigger (x4)
   - Refer to the build above (screenshot) for example Triggers Set for specific cards.

For Non Rank Fight Battles

   - NOTE: Feel free to experiment with other Trigger Sets according to your preference. Add more Critical Triggers and/or Stand Triggers if you want to use this deck for certain events, like non Rank Fights that would require you to finish the battle asap.

Nova Grappler Battle Strategies

Mulligan (Starting Cards)

   - Any Grade 1 Cards (G1) = Keep x1 or x2, to ensure a Grade 1 Vanguard.
   - Any Grade 2 Cards (G1) = Keep x1 or x2, to ensure a Grade 2 Vanguard.
   - Death Army Cosmo Lord (G3) = Keep x1, to ensure a Grade 3 ride.

   - Ultimate Lifeform, Cosmo Lord (G3) = Keep x1 if you did not get Death Army Cosmo Lord (G3), to ensure a Grade 3 ride and to add +2,000 Power to your Death Army Cosmo Lord (G3).
   - Sentinel Card (G1) = Keep at least x1.

Basic Battle Strategies

   - Try to activate your FV's skill early on to buff up units, then use Death Army Bishop (G1) and Death Army Knight (G2) to stand them, to setup combos early on if possible.
   - If you have Street Bouncer (G2), use it early on too to increase your hand size.

   - Try to ride Ultimate Lifeform, Cosmo Lord (G3) to activate Death Army Cosmo Lord's (G3) Cross Ride skill later on. A 13,000 base Power Vanguard would force your opponent to adjust their combos to 13k/18k/23k.
   - In case of a miss-ride or if you can use Limit Break skill, it's ok to just ride straight to Death Army Cosmo Lord (G3), and use Ultimate Lifeform, Cosmo Lord (G3) as a rear-guard.

   - Also use Death Army Guy (G1) as Booster + Death Army Lady (G2) or Death Army Commander (G3) in 1 column in case you get a Grade 3 card during Trigger Checks for additional attack. These units can also be used as finishers, especially when your opponent's Damage is at 5, to help you break those Sentinel Cards (PG).

How to Use Ultimate Lifeform, Cosmo Lord (G3)

Ultimate Lifeform, Cosmo Lord (G3)
   - (VC/RC): Rest a rear-guard to get +3,000 Power until end of turn.
   - During your Main Phase, you can buff this unit up by resting 2 "Death Army" rear-guards, then use Death Army Bishop (G1) and Death Army Knight (G2) to re-stand those "Death Army" cards.
   - You can also use other "Death Army" cards that can re-stand when you Drive Check a Grade 3 card during battle, if needed (luck based).

How To Use Infinite Corrosion Form, Death Army Cosmo Lord (G3)

Infinite Corrosion Form, Death Army Cosmo Lord (G3)
   - (VC): Cross Ride If Ultimate Lifeform, Cosmo Lord (G3) is in your Soul, this unit gets +2,000 Power.

   - (VC): Rest 2 of your "Death Army" rear-guards to get +5,000 Power until end of turn.
   - Activate skill, then use Death Army Bishop (G1) and Death Army Knight (G2) to re-stand them. This unit can easily reach 21,000 Power by resting 2 cards.
   - You can also use other "Death Army" cards that can re-stand when you Drive Check a Grade 3 card during battle, if needed (luck based).

   - (VC): LB41/TurnCB2 to stand all of your rear-guards. If four or more stand, this unit gets Critical +1 until end of turn.
   - One way to use this skill is to to fill up the field with "Death Army" cards then use your FV's skill to rest all 4 rear-guards (buffing them all up with +2,000 Power as well), then use Death Army Cosmo Lord's (G3) Limit Break skill to stand all 4 rear-guards and gain Critical +1.
   - You can also use Death Army Cosmo Lord's (G3) skill above to buff him up by resting "Death Army" cards.

   - TIP: If you can't use it's skill because you have non "Death Army" units in play, place Ultimate Lifeform, Cosmo Lord (G3) as a rear guard and use it's skill to rest units. This way you'll be able to rest 4 or more rear-guards.
   - Another way is to use cards that can rest itself like Street Bouncer (G2), to help you rest units, and draw a card as bonus. If you have no choice, just simply replace them with a "Death Army" card from your hand.

Counter Blasts

Infinite Corrosion Form, Death Army Cosmo Lord (G3)
   - Death Army Cosmo Lord (G3) LB41/TurnCB2 to stand all of your rear-guards. If four or more stand, this unit gets Critical +1 until end of turn.
   - Death Army Bishop (G1) = Add x4. 1/TurnCB1 to stand 2 of your "Death Army" rear-guards. Note that you can use this effect more than once if you have multiple cards in play.

   - Note: Also consider other card effects that requires Counter Blasts if needed.

How To Build 21,000+ Power Columns

Vanguard + Booster

   - Death Army Cosmo Lord (G3) = 11,000 base Power Vanguard (13,000 Power if you have Ultimate Lifeform, Cosmo Lord (G3) in Soul).
   - This unit can reach 21,000~23,000 Power just by using it's skill (rest 2 "Death Army" units).

Rear Guards + Booster

   - Ultimate Lifeform, Cosmo Lord (G3) = 11,000 base Power, rest a Rear Guard to get +3000 Power until the end of turn.
   - Cosmo Lord (G3) + Any Booster with 7,000 Power = 21,000 total Power (if 1 Rear Guard is used).

   - Any 7,000 Power Booster (G1) with x1 +2,000 Power buff (FV's skill).
   - 7,000 Booster (G1) + Any Rear Guard with 10,000 Power = 17,000 total Power (21,000 Power with buff on both units).

   - Any 7,000 Power Booster (G1)
   - 7,000 Booster (G1) + Any Rear Guard with 9,000~11,000 Power = 16,000~18,000 total Power (21,000~23,000 Power with +5,000 "Trigger Check" buff).

   - NOTE: Other cards not included here are also OK to use but some are very situational or unsustainable, use them if you like. Also adjust the numbers above depending on your Booster's Power.
