Battle Legion: Quick Walkthrough Guide (Rank 9 to 10) Part 4

Here's a quick walkthrough and unit upgrading guide Part 4 for the idle-style strategy mobile game Battle Legion: Mass-Battler, available to download from Google Play (Android) and App Store (iOS).

Follow and complete the tutorial until you can start forming your own army and battle other players.
Battle Legion: Quick Walkthrough Guide Part 2

Formation/Build and Upgrading Guide

   - Refer to our separate guide (below link) for the quick walkthrough guide.

   - Quick Walkthrough Guide Part 1 (Rank 1 to 5)

   - Quick Walkthrough Guide Part 5 (Coming Soon!)

Things To Remember

   - Refer to our quick tips and guide section for info that we will no longer cover here.
   - Check here: Battle Legion: Beginner's Quick Tips and Guide

   - This guide will focus more on using Common and Rare units, since all players can get them.

   - Formations =  Follow the example formations below (must follow exact location and position for movement and timing). Feel free to adjust the formation or test other formations if you like.

   - NOTE: Builds/Formations below are just suggestions, these are not the only way to conquer the Ranks. We do not guarantee 100% effectiveness due to game "balance changes", but can still be used as reference.

   - Upgrading = Upgrade units to match up your opponent's upgrade levels (check during the start of battle, use as guide). Note that you'll receive random shards from Wagons, so either follow the example screenshots or upgrade other key units included, preferably those that you'll be using for most battles.

   - Win Rate = Your win rate % can go above or below 50%, just focus on increasing your Trophies to reach the next Rank or to unlock new units. Keep on battling even if you can only get below 60% win rate.

Rank 9 (1600~1800 Trophies)

   - Rank 9 got lots of Barrier Monk users, so I would recommended using Arcane Archers.

   - The good news is that it is possible to clear this Rank with Lvl 5 units + Powerstones (can reach 60%~80% win rate) but it can go down below 40% if you missed something (exact formation, Lvl, or Powerstones) or just unlucky and keep on encountering armies with lots of Lvl 7 and 8 units (because most Lvl 7 got more units than Lvl 5 or 6).

Battle Legion: Quick Walkthrough Guide Part 4 (Rank 9)

   - As long as your towers are up, you have a good chance against high Lvl armies (must follow exact location). Also adjust your Arcane Blades (move in and out from the unit selection window to change), make them more compressed or flat to not let Assassins attack the Towers when they are chasing your Arcane Blades (can still happen sometimes but that's ok).

   - Replace any unit you don't have above with Bombot for now.

   - If the above formation is not giving you decent results, try to adjust your Crystal Spires a little bit to the back and/or move the Shieldbearers a bit forward to quickly protect them (adjust more if needed), especially when ranged units can destroy it right from the start (if there are a lot of aggressive armies placing their units in front).

   - The plan for both builds above is to use your Crystal Spires to help eliminate high Lvl melee units, Arcane Archers to thin out their low HP units like Archers early on and to help sweep remaining units inside their barrier later on.
   - The ideal end game per battle is Barrier vs Barrier, all melee units eliminated, and your Arcane Archers firing their finishing blows to end the battle.

   - Notable Weaknesses = Against massive high Lvl units, Assassins placed to the top most area, nicely built armies with Mythic unit/s, high Lvl Earth Elemental but still doable as long as your Crystal Spires are up, high Lvl Spider Nest that can last very long but only if their other units got high Lvls as well.

Units and Upgrades:

   - x2 Shieldbearers = Lvl 5 or 6 + Defensive type Powerstones.

   - x2 Archers = Lvl 5 or 6 + Powerstones.

   - x2 Hammer Throwers = Lvl 5 or 6 + Offensive type Powerstone.

   - x1 Plague Throwers = Lvl 4 or 5 + Range or Defensive type Powerstone.

   - x2 Crystal Spire = Lvl 5 or 6 + Offensive type Powerstone.

   - x1 Barrier Monk = Lvl 4 or 5 + Ability type Powerstones.

   - x1 Arcane Blades = Lvl 5 + Powerstones.

   - x2 Arcane Archer = Lvl 5 + Powerstones (Defensive type Powerstone that ignores damage every few seconds is also good).

   - TIP: Keep battling (use "Auto-Spin") and earn wins and XP to get those free unit shards from Season Path, plus other rewards like Powerstones. If you need more Gold, you can buy Gold from the Shop with 50 or 500 Gems (optional), or donate units to your clan mates.

   - *NOTE: Depending on the shards that you can get from Wagons, upgrade other key units included, preferably those that you'll be using for most battles.

Rank 10 (1800~2000 Trophies)

   - Overall strategy is the same as Rank 9 above but this time it's tougher because Lvl 7 and 8 units are more common here (sometimes even Lvl 9!), so it's best to upgrade most of your units to at least Lvl 6, upgrade to Lvl 7 if you want for other units.

   - Note that most Lvl 7 units will get an additional unit (2 additional unit for Lvl 9!), and Lvl 8 units will get an additional Powerstone slot, so fighting with Lvl 6 units with lesser number of units will force you to go through handicapped battles (but it's possible to conquer Rank 10 with some luck).

Battle Legion: Quick Walkthrough Guide (Rank 10a)

   - There are 2 additional options that we can do here: Strengthen our tanks to last longer, and borrow their strong units with Mindshrooms haha (upgrade to spawn more units). Mindshrooms are also very effective against Bombots, Battle Wagons, Earth Elementals (when opponent kills it while being controlled, it would split and become permanently yours!), and more.
   - Adjust the formation of your Mindshrooms until most of them are close to the enemy territory (move in and out from the unit selection window to change).
   - The 3rd Shieldbearers at the back can be replaced with Lvl 7 Arcane Blades if you like.

Battle Legion: Quick Walkthrough Guide (Rank 10a)
   - The 2 builds above can generate around 70% win rate depending on your Crystal SpiresArcane Archers and Mindshrooms. 40% win rate is also possible if you keep on encountering this build's notable weaknesses.
   - Same strategy above (refer to Rank 9), adjust Crystal SpiresShieldbearers, and Mindshrooms if needed. If you are still having trouble, try to upgrade some of the units to Lvl 7 (Hammer Throwers first).

   - Notable Weaknesses = Against massive high Lvl units, Assassins placed to the top most area, nicely built armies with Mythic unit/s, high Lvl Earth Elemental but still doable as long as your Crystal Spires and Mindshrooms are up, high Lvl Spider Nest that can last very long but only if their other units got high Lvls as well.

Units and Upgrades:

   - x3 Shieldbearers = Lvl 6 or 7 + Defensive type Powerstones (replace x1 Shielbearers with x1 Lvl 7 Arcane Blades if you like).

   - x2 Archers = Lvl 6 or 7 + Powerstones.

   - x2 Hammer Throwers = Lvl 6 or 7 + Offensive type Powerstone.

   - x1 Plague Throwers = Lvl 5 + Range or Defensive type Powerstone.

   - x1 Mindshrooms = Lvl 6.

   - x2 Crystal Spire = Lvl 6 or 7+ Offensive type Powerstone.

   - x1 Barrier Monk = Lvl 5 or 6 + Ability type Powerstones.

   - x2 Arcane Archer = Lvl 6 + Powerstones (Defensive type Powerstone that ignores damage every few seconds is also good).

*IMPORTANT NOTE:

   - We will end our guide here for now due to possible "Balance Changes" for current and newer units, but this build is still viable, just keep upgrading them higher to be on par with other armies if you like, or create your own builds (this is the best time too).

   - Use the above build until you can reach 2050 Trophies (auto spins will do the trick!).

   - You may also test other units (like at least x6~x8 Righteous Defenders + x2 Blessed Bombot, I would actually recommend this and might cover once I have time to continue this guide, the problem though is that they keep changing these units' stats which is uncool).

   - Join clans that got a lot of members with over 2,000 Trophies at this point too, good luck! ^^

Rank 8 (1400~1600 Trophies)

   - Barrier Monk is your key unit here to counter those annoying Catapults, Barrier Monks, and other Mythic units, because she can cover your army from ranged attackers! If you don't have her, get ready for a world of pain... (not really if you are lucky ~ XD).

Battle Legion: Quick Walkthrough Guide (Rank 8) Barrier Monk

How To Get Barrier Monk?

   - The problem here is that you'll need to endure until you can reach 1550 Trophies to unlock Barrier Monk or try to get her Shards from your Daily Free Wagon (Shop) and Wagons (Camp), also Watch Ads (Camp) or try to get some Royal Shipments (random from Battles).

Build If You Don't Have Barrier Monk

   - Use this build for now until you can unlock Barrier Monk. There are other viable builds as well, but I prefer high roll builds (generates +/-50~100 Trophies depending on your Bombots and Plague Throwers' performance).

Battle Legion: Quick Walkthrough Guide (Rank 8 - Spider Nest)

   - Notable Weaknesses = Against massive high Lvl units, Assassins placed to the bottom area, and Mythic units like Catapults!

   - Note that Lvl 5 units can help you reach 1500~1550 Trophies (with some luck), so take your time and gather shards from Wagons and Clan Requests to upgrade most of them to Lvl 5.

Units and Upgrades:

   - x2 Shieldbearers = Aim for Lvl 5 + Defensive type Powerstones.

   - x2 Archers = Aim for Lvl 5 + Powerstones.

   - x3 Bombot = Lvl 2 or 3. Upgrade if you want to increase HP or to "one hit kill" Brutes.

   - x2 Hammer Throwers = Aim for Lvl 5 + Offensive type Powerstone.

   - x1 Plague Throwers = Lvl 4 or 5 + Range or Defensive type Powerstone.

   - x1 Spider Nest = Lvl 2. Upgrading to Lvl 3 is optional (if you want to save Gold).

   - x1 Crystal Spire = Lvl 5 + Offensive type Powerstone.

   - *NOTE: Depending on the shards that you can get from Wagons, upgrade other key units included, preferably those that you'll be using for most battles.

Alternative Build If You Have Arcane Archer

   - Build if you don't have Barrier Monk yet but have Arcane Archer. Also a high roll build (generates +/-50~100 Trophies depending on your Bombots and Plague Throwers' performance).

Battle Legion: Quick Walkthrough Guide (Rank 8 - Arcane Archer)

   - Place 2 Crystal Spire to disrupt Bombots and to quickly eliminate melee units. Range units are also far from each other to force your opponent's Plague Throwers to take more time spreading it's plague.

   - Notable Weaknesses = Against massive high Lvl units, Assassins placed to the bottom/upper area (Assassins placed to the center will follow the Bombot lol), and Mythic units like Catapults!

   - Note that Lvl 5 units can help you reach 1500~1550 Trophies (with some luck), so take your time and gather shards from Wagons and Clan Requests to upgrade most of them to Lvl 5.

   - x2 Crystal Spire = Lvl 4 or 5 + Offensive type Powerstone.

   - x1 Arcane Archer = Lvl 4 or 5 + Powerstones (Defensive type Powerstone that ignores damage every few seconds is also good).

   - *NOTE: Depending on the shards that you can get from Wagons, upgrade other key units included, preferably those that you'll be using for most battles.

Build If You Have Barrier Monk

   - NOTE: As long as you have Barrier Monk you can build any formations you like, you can also complete Rank 8 with lower upgrades (but would still recommend upgrading for later). Here's an example:

Battle Legion: Quick Walkthrough Guide (Rank 8 Barrier)

   - Barrier Monk will always follow the nearest unit so make sure to place her next to your preferred unit/s to cover like Archers. Request shards from your Clan to upgrade her to Lvl 4.

   - Notable Weaknesses = Against massive high Lvl units, Assassins placed to the center (if you encounter them a lot, move the Bombot a little bit more to the center. You may also replace Arcane Archer or Bombot and add a x1 Arcane Blades or a 3rd Shieldbearer unit to the center (all the way back) if you want).

Units and Upgrades:

   - x2 Shieldbearers = Aim for Lvl 5 + Defensive type Powerstones.

   - x2 Archers = Aim for Lvl 5 + Powerstones.

   - x1 Bombot = Lvl 3.

   - x2 Hammer Throwers = Aim for Lvl 5 + Offensive type Powerstone.

   - x1 Plague Throwers = Lvl 4 or 5 + Range or Defensive type Powerstone.

   - x2 Crystal Spire = Lvl 4 or 5 + Offensive type Powerstone.

   - x1 Barrier Monk = Aim for Lvl 4 + Ability type Powerstones.

Rank 6 (1000~1200 Trophies)

   - There are so many ways to conquer this Rank, as long as you have Plague Throwers to slow down targets and reduce their HP over time. You'll be facing Plague Throwers from here on as well, so I would suggest giving some space between your Archers at least to avoid spreading the plague.

Battle Legion: Quick Walkthrough Guide (Rank 6)

   - Mindshrooms and Bombots are somewhat annoying here, so better focus only on 1 side to avoid bouncing Bombots and "mind control" effects.

   - Move your Bombots to the back to avoid those Mindshrooms and to serve as defense against Assassins. These units can also redirect attacks even if they don't explode.

   - Alternative Build (Optional) = Once you are able to get Spider Nest, replace x1 Bombot and Freezing Trap, then place Spider Nest below your Plague Throwers.

Units and Upgrades:

   - x2 Shieldbearers = Lvl 3 or 4.

   - x2 Archers = Lvl 3 or 4.

   - x1 Freezing Trap = Lvl 1. This is just a filler unit, place where you think it can perform best.

   - x3 Bombot = Lvl 2 or 3. Upgrade if you want to increase HP or to "one hit kill" Brutes.

   - x2 Hammer Throwers = Lvl 3 or 4.

   - x1 Plague Throwers = Lvl 3 or 4. Most of the time these units can survive till the end, so upgrade to increase your chances of winning. Equip a Range or any Defensive type Powerstone once you reach Lvl 4.

   - x1 Spider Nest = Lvl 2. Only upgrade if you want to use the alternative build above (optional).

   - *NOTE: Depending on the shards that you can get from Wagons, upgrade other key units included, preferably those that you'll be using for most battles.

Rank 7 (1200~1400 Trophies)

Build Before Getting Crystal Spire

   - Use this build until you can reach 1250 Trophies and unlock Crystal Spire.
Battle Legion: Quick Walkthrough Guide (Rank 7)

   - Join a Clan = This is a good time to join Clans to get Common and Rare shards like Plague Throwers (if you need more) from your clan-mates (check clan info if they are active enough).

   - Refer here for more info about Clans: Battle Legion: Beginner's Quick Tips and Guide

Units and Upgrades:

   - x2 Shieldbearers = Aim for Lvl 4 + Defensive type Powerstones.

   - x2 Archers = Aim for Lvl 4 + Powerstones.

   - x3 Bombot = Lvl 2 or 3. Upgrade if you want to increase HP or to "one hit kill" Brutes.

   - x2 Hammer Throwers = Lvl 4 + Offensive type Powerstone.

   - x1 Plague Throwers = Lvl 4. Equip a Range or any Defensive type Powerstone.

   - x1 Spider Nest = Lvl 2. Upgrading to Lvl 3 is optional (if you want to save Gold).

   - *NOTE: Depending on the shards that you can get from Wagons, upgrade other key units included, preferably those that you'll be using for most battles.

Build After Getting Crystal Spire

   - Now this is where things will start to get a bit challenging because your opponents' units can reach Lvl 6~7, and some would also start to use Mythic units like those annoying Catapults! So upgrade your units to Lvl 4 at least and keep battling till you get through (starts to get luck based, hope you won't encounter them a lot!).

Battle Legion: Quick Walkthrough Guide (Rank 7 Tower)

   - Replace x1 Bombot with Crystal Spire to help eliminate melee and mid-ranged units, also useful against low HP enemies and Bombots.

   - Rearrange units to delay your Hammer Throwers, to let your Shieldbearers tank first. Adjust Crystal Spire or Bombots if you like. Spider Nest can be place a bit forward (lower right of your Plague Throwers).

   - Notable Weaknesses = Against massive high Lvl units, Assassins placed to the bottom area, Barrier Monks, and Mythic units like Catapults!

Units and Upgrades:

   - x2 Shieldbearers = Aim for Lvl 4 + Defensive type Powerstones.

   - x2 Archers = Aim for Lvl 4 + Powerstones.

   - x2 Bombot = Lvl 2 or 3.

   - x1 Crystal Spire = Lvl 4 or 5 (upgrade to Lvl 5 if possible). Also equip an Offensive type Powerstone to increase it's effectiveness.

   - *NOTE: Depending on the shards that you can get from Wagons, upgrade other key units included, preferably those that you'll be using for most battles.

Rank 1 (30~200 Trophies)

   - Early Ranks are pretty straight forward, any formations will do just make sure to upgrade most of them to Lvl 2.

Battle Legion Rank 1 Army Formation

Units and Upgrades:

   - x2 Shieldbearers = Lvl 2.

   - x2 Archers = Lvl 1 or 2.

   - x1 War Hounds = Lvl 2.

   - x1 Brute = Lvl 1. Keep to Lvl 1 to save some Gold.

   - *NOTE: Depending on the shards that you can get from Wagons, upgrade other key units included, preferably those that you'll be using for most battles.

Rank 2 (200~400 Trophies)

   - NOTE: Early game, you'll lose less trophies when you lose battles so use this opportunity to save some Gold for your key units later on.

Battle Legion Rank 2 Army Formation

   - This time, move your army back a bit to avoid those Freezing Traps. Assassins are going to be a threat but there are only few, so it's ok.

Units and Upgrades:

   - x2 Shieldbearers = Lvl 2 or 3.

   - x2 Archers = Lvl 2 or 3.

   - x2 War Hounds = Lvl 2. Keep both units to Lvl 2 to save some Gold.

   - x1 Brute = Lvl 1. Keep to Lvl 1 to save some Gold.

   - *NOTE: Depending on the shards that you can get from Wagons, upgrade other key units included, preferably those that you'll be using for most battles.

Rank 3 (400~600 Trophies)

Battle Legion Rank 3 Army Formation

   - Replace Brute and add x3 Bombots to get a nice offense and defense, rush towards Rank 4 with this formation.

   - Alternative Build = If you didn't get any Bombot shards, use any build until you can reach 450 Trophies. For example, replace x3 Bombots above with x2 Freezing Trap (place front) and x1 Archer (back), no need to upgrade all 3 units.

Units and Upgrades:

   - x2 Shieldbearers = Lvl 2 or 3.

   - x2 Archers = Lvl 2 or 3.

   - x2 War Hounds = Lvl 2. Keep both units to Lvl 2 to save some Gold.

   - x3 Bombot = Lvl 2.

   - *NOTE: Depending on the shards that you can get from Wagons, upgrade other key units included, preferably those that you'll be using for most battles.

Rank 4 (600~800 Trophies)

   - You can still use similar formation above, but upgrade your key units to Lvl 3 as you go. Hammer Throwers can counter your Bombots but still doable.

Battle Legion Rank 4 Army Formation

   - Move your Shieldbearers to the center to setup some defense against Assassins.

   - Move Hammer Throwers to the front of your Archers if you like to setup some defense against Bombots.

Units and Upgrades:

   - x2 Shieldbearers = Lvl 2 or 3.

   - x2 Archers = Lvl 2 or 3.

   - x2 War Hounds = Lvl 2. Keep both units to Lvl 2 to save some Gold.

   - x3 Bombot = Lvl 2. Keep them all to Lvl 2 for now.

   - x1 Hammer Throwers = Lvl 3.

   - *NOTE: Depending on the shards that you can get from Wagons, upgrade other key units included, preferably those that you'll be using for most battles.

Rank 5 (800~1000 Trophies)

   - You'll eventually encounter Mindshrooms that can counter your Bombots but still doable. Plague Bearers can also be a problem if they managed to inflict Plague to all of your units.
Battle Legion Rank 5 Army Formation

   - Move your Hammer Throwers to the front to setup some defense against Bombots.

   - Start upgrading your units to Lvl 4 to unlock their first Power Slot, to equip Powerstones. For more info about Powerstones, refer here: Battle Legion: Beginner's Quick Tips and Guide

Units and Upgrades:

   - x2 Shieldbearers = Lvl 2 or 3 (upgrade to Lvl 3 if possible).

   - x2 Archers = Lvl 2 or 3 (upgrade to Lvl 3 if possible).

   - x2 War Hounds = Lvl 2. Keep both units to Lvl 2 to save some Gold.

   - x3 Bombot = Lvl 2. Keep them all to Lvl 2 for now.

   - x2 Hammer Throwers = Lvl 3 or 4 (probably your first Lvl 4 unit to start using Powerstones). Upgrading them would also help counter Bombots easier.

   - *NOTE: Depending on the shards that you can get from Wagons, upgrade other key units included, preferably those that you'll be using for most battles.
