Plants vs. Zombies 2: Wild West Quick Walkthrough and Strategy Guide


Here's a quick walkthrough and strategy guide for the "Wild West" stages in the action and arcade defense game - Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time!. Follow and quickly deploy the suggested plant formation below to help you defend against the zombie hordes (not the only way though, just treat this as a guide).

Wild West stages will introduce Cowboy zombies, "Tracks", and movable "Mine Carts". Move the Mine Carts upwards or downwards to attack or defend multiple rows!

More Tips to Remember!
   - Play Pirate Seas Quick Walkthrough and Strategy Guide first before this guide!
   - Cherry Bomb: Best placed on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th row for wider range.
   - Iceberg Lettuce: Disables Prospector zombie, but ineffective when more than one.
   - Spilt Pea: Great vs. Prospector zombies.
   - Chili Bean: Great vs. tough zombies, stuns and damages them.
   - Lightning Reed: Can hit targets one lane above or below that chains to multiple targets. Great vs. Chicken Wrangler zombies!
   - Tall-Nut: Sturdier than Wall-Nuts but with higher Sun requirement.
   - Pea Pod: Note that you can stack up to 5 Pea Pods on 1 Pea Pod.
   - Melon-Pult: Sun requirement is high but hits a 3x3 square area per attack.
   - Winter Melon: You won't need them much this time.

   - Plant Food: When used on some plants placed on mine carts, you can move the mine cart to attack multiple rows!
   - If you are having difficulty, you may use Power Ups or buy PFs if you like.

How to Plant Guide:
   - | Sunflower | Peashooter | Peashooter | Wall |
   - This means: Plant Sunflowers in the 1st column from the left, Peashooters in the 2nd and 3rd columns, then Wall-Nuts in the 4th column.

- World: Wild West Day 1 to 25 -

Please Note: Colored Plants below are placed on Mine Carts on that same column.

Wild West - Day 1

   - | Peashooter, Peashooter | Peashooter | Peashooter, Peashooter |
   - Plant Food: None, the purpose here is to practice dragging the mine carts to defeat tough zombies.

Wild West - Day 2

   - | Sun | Split, Split | Dragon, Dragon | Wall |
   - Plant Food: Split Pea or Snapdragon vs. tough and Prospector zombies.
   - Cherry Bomb: Vs. tough and Prospector zombies.

Wild West - Day 3

   - | Sun, Repeater | Sun, Repeater | Dragon | Wall |
   - Plant Food: Dragon or Repeater vs. tough and Prospector zombies.
   - Cherry Bomb: Vs. Pianist zombies.

Wild West - Day 4 (Mini Game)

   - Use the "View" option below the "Pause" icon to view the zombies. Take note which lanes zombies will come from, and what type are there.
   - Peashooter: Place it on those short tracks, then replace with Repeaters later.
   - Split Pea: Place it on those 2 long tracks, good vs. Prospector zombies.
   - Threepeater: Place it on the 1st and 3rd column (on land, not on mine carts!).
   - At the final wave, defeat the Buckethead zombie to get a PF, then use it on your Repeater or Split Pea to defeat the Pianist zombie.

Wild West - Day 5

   - | Bonk Choy | Twin Sun | Dragon | Dragon | Wall | Spikeweed |
   - Plant Food: Wall-Nuts or Any
   - Always remember, use 1 Twin Sunflower then place 2 Snapdragons at the 2nd and 4th row. Do this starting method every time you have Twin Sunflower and Snapdragon.
   - Cherry Bomb and Chili Bean: Vs. tough zombies.

Wild West - Day 6

   - Plant Food: Coconut Cannon vs. Pianist and Poncho zombies.
   - Coconut Cannon: Focus on hitting Pianist and Poncho zombies. Defeat those Poncho zombies before they reveal their protective metal grates (easier because you can 1 hit kill them).

Wild West - Day 7

   - | Twin Sun | Pea Pod | Dragon | Wall | Spikeweed |
   - Plant Food: Pea Pod, note that you can move it to attack multiple targets. Use it on Snapdragon too when mobbed.
   - Cherry Bomb or Chili Bean: Vs. tough zombies.

Wild West - Day 8 (Mini Game - Gargantuar and World Key!)

   - | Split Pea | Pea PodPea Pod | Pea Pod | Wall | Pea Pod or Split Pea |
   - Plant Food: Save your PFs for your Pea Pods, vs. Gargantuars. Full or not, the effect of PF on Pea Pods is the same.
   - Pea Pods: Stack 5 Pea Pods each then move them to attack tough zombies.
   - Chili Bean: Vs. Pianist, Poncho, or Buckethead zombies.
   - Place your extra Pea Pod or Split Pea on the 6th column just for disruption.

Wild West - Day 9 (Survive with Given Plants!)

   - | Winter Melon | Sun | Split Pea | Lightning, Lightning | Wall | None | None |
   - Plant Food: Winter Melon or Lightning Reed
   - Lightning Reed: Use the Tracks to move or dodge while attacking zombies.

Wild West - Day 10

   - | Lightning, Lightning | Sun | Dragon | Dragon | Wall |
   - Plant Food: Any
   - Cherry Bomb or Chili Bean: Vs. Buckethead or Pianist zombies.

Wild West - Day 11 (Spend No More Than 500 Sun!)

   - Plant Food: Save 2 PFs for Snapdragon for the final wave.
   - Potato Mine: You must use 2 mines to defeat the 1st 2 Conehead zombies!
   - Iceberg Lettuce: The slow time is short but it's free!

Wild West - Day 12 (Mini Game)

   - Use the "View" option below the "Pause" icon to view the zombies.
   - Adjust the formation then deploy the new plant, repeat.
   - Boomerang: Plant them on mine carts only!
   - Lightning Reed: Place them on land only (1st 3 columns), not on mine carts!
   - Focus at least 3 attackers on Buckethead zombies then move to the lesser ones.

Wild West - Day 13

   - | MelonMelon | Twin Sun | Split Pea | Dragon | Wall |
   - Plant Food: Any
   - Reminder: Just always start with 1 Twin Sunflower then 2 Snapdragons.
   - Melon-Pults: Move to attack tough zombies.

Wild West - Day 14

   - | Twin Sun | Melon | Dragon, Dragon | Dragon, Dragon | Wall |
   - Plant Food: Melon-Pult or Any
   - Cherry Bomb: Pianist or any tough zombies.

Wild West - Day 15 (Don't Lose More Than 2 Plants!)

   - | Twin Sun, Melon | None, Melon | Dragon (2 only!) | Wall |
   - Plant Food: Snapdragon or Melon-Pult vs. tough zombies.
   - Do not use Instant plants, or limit to 1 or 2 only.
   - Melon-Pult: Move to attack tough zombies, especially Pianist zombies.

Wild West - Day 16 (Protect the Plants!)

   - | None | Twin Sun | Split Pea | Dragon | Wall | None | Wall |
   - Plant Food: Wall-Nut placed on Mine Cart, then Any.
   - After setting up your 2 Snapdragons, quickly build your Wall-Nuts vs. Conehead zombies and to protect your Snapdragons.
   - Cherry Bomb and Chili Bean: Vs. Poncho zombies.
   - Move the Wall-Nut placed on Mine Cart to dodge zombies, let them all pass.
   - If you have complete Walls , just plant another Wall-Nut on top of your damaged Wall-Nut to renew them!

Wild West - Day 17 (Protect the Flowers!)

   - | Twin Sun | Melon | None | None | Dragon | Wall | Spikeweed |
   - Plant Food: Melon-Pult or Snapdragon vs. tough zombies.
   - After setting up your 2 Snapdragons, quickly build your Wall-Nuts.
   - Spikeweed: Move in front of Zombie Bulls to prevent the rider to fly through your Snapdragons, a nice permanent attacker too!
   - Cherry Bomb and Chili Bean: Vs. tough zombies at the final wave.

Wild West - Day 18 (Plan Your Defense!)

   - Just follow the formation below then just watch till the end.
   - Plant Food: Just the 2 Wall-Nuts placed on the 5th column.
   - You should have 50 Sun and 1 PF left.

Wild West - Day 19 (Don't Lose More Than 2 Plants!, Spend 2,000 Sun Only!)

   - | None | Split Pea | None | Snapdragon | Tall-Nut |
   - Plant Food: Snapdragons vs. Poncho zombies with protective metal grate.
   - After 2 Snapdragons, complete Tall-Nuts then complete Snapdragons.
   - Split Pea: Complete last or place in case a Prospector zombie appears early.

Wild West - Day 20 (Mini Game)

   - To cut this short, just simply buy Plant Foods (1,000 Coins each), then use them! Tap on the green "+" icon to buy, you have lots of Coins by now anyway, right?
   - Plant Food: Wall-Nut, and/or any Pea-type plant, move to attack multiple rows!
   - Wall-Nut: Place it o the 5th column, move it in front of Chicken Wrangler zombie to block the chickens.
   - Potato Mine: Place it o the 6th column vs. Buckethead zombies.
   - Chili Bean: Place it o the 6th column vs. Conehead zombies.

Wild West - Day 21 (Spend No More Than 1,750 Sun, Protect the Flowers)

   - | None | Potato Mine | Potato Mine | None | Dragon (2 only!) | Tall-Nut |
   - Plant Food: Any
   - After 2 Snapdragons, set up Tall-Nuts to protect them.
   - Chili Bean or Potato Mine: Plant them early on mine carts, vs. Prospectors.
   - Cherry Bomb and Chili Bean: Vs. Prospectors at final wave, let them fly first.
   - Iceberg Lettuce: Can turn off Prospector's dynamite, but still optional though.

Wild West - Day 22 (Survive with Given Plants!)

   - | Melon | Sun, Repeater | Sun, Repeater | Bloom | Iceberg | None | Potato Mine |
   - Plant Food: Repeater vs. Poncho zombies with protective metal grate or chickens!
   - Quickly build up your Sunflowers, Repeaters, and Bloomerangs.
   - Iceberg Lettuce: To help halt the chickens!
   - Potato Mines: Vs. tough zombies.

Wild West - Day 23 (Protect the Flowers!, Don't Lose More Than 1 Plant!)

   - | Twin Sun | None | None, None | None, None | Dragon | Tall-Nut |
   - Plant Food: Snapdragons vs. Pianist and Buckethead zombies.
   - Place 2 Snapdragons like usual, then complete your Tall-Nuts.
   - The formation above is more than enough for this stage.

Wild West - Day 24 (Protect the Plants!)

   - | Twin Sun | Lightning | Dragon | Dragon | Tall-Nut | WallWall | Wall |
   - Plant Food: All 3 Wall-Nuts
   - Place 2 Snapdragons in the 4th column like usual, then set up your Tall-Nuts to protect your Snapdragons.
   - Note: When the 1st Chicken Wrangler zombie appears, start placing at least 1 or 2 Lightning Reeds to zap the chickens. Block them with your Talls and Walls if needed.
   - Move the 3 Wall-Nuts to dodge zombies, just let them pass.
   - Cherry Bomb and Chili Bean: Use it only for the final wave.
   - Renew Walls or Talls if necessary.

Wild West - Day 25 (Mini Game - Dr. Zomboss)

   - Lightning Reed or Any | Peapod | Any | Peapod | Any | Any | Tall-Nut and Chili Bean | None | None |
   - Plant Food: Lightning Reed, especially when Dr. Zomboss is alone for a nice damage!

   - Peapod: Stack 5 Peapods on the 2nd column-mine cart first, then on the 4th column. Move it to avoid enemy attacks, and to attack Dr. Zomboss or Gargantuars. If you have extra Peapods, place or stack them anywhere.
   - Tip: You have lots of plants here to deploy, so place them fast to do massive damages!
